We’re growing!

The Didsbury Municipal Library has a longstanding history of providing excellent service to the community. Established in 1908 by Didsbury Councillors and business people, the Didsbury Free Library was the first town library in Alberta to earn a grant under the Public Libraries Act, awarded by Premier Rutherford in 1909.

In recent years, it has become increasingly apparent that our community requires a larger facility to meet the needs of our residents. In the past five years alone, the demand for library service has escalated significantly. Between 2015 and 2019 visitation grew 15% and program attendance rose by an astounding 184%.

The community has recognized the increasing pressures on the Library facility; facilitating the library expansion was included on the Town of Didsbury Strategic Plan for 2017-2027.

The Didsbury Town Council and the Didsbury Municipal Library Board are pleased to announce plans for the future expansion of the library facility in our community. For more information on this next step, please see the joint press release.

We look forward to welcoming you in our renovated space!
