The Brownfield Community Library is one of several library service points governed by the Parkland Regional Library Board. More information about Parkland Regional Library and its relationship with library service points (outlet libraries) is available on the Parkland Regional Library website.
Brownfield Community Library started out as a small book room (adult library) in the Brownfield Community School in 1992. In 2000, we joined the Parkland Regional Library system and formed the Friends of the Brownfield Community Library Society. Although the library is housed in the Brownfield School, it is a public library.
The library currently has over 225 patrons from Brownfield and the surrounding area. In the past, the library has hosted author visits, travel talks, and storytellers. The Brownfield Community Library offers a summer reading program, and in 2008, with the help of grant funding, the library started an adult book club on Tuesday evenings, which is still running. Our teen book club (the Book Junkie Society) and tween book club for grades 4-6 (Word Geek Society) both meet monthly to discuss a book and do a craft and/or snack.
The Brownfield Community Library is fortunate to have a very dedicated volunteer society. With their help, we hope to continue serving the community for many years to come.
